The Childhood Home of John Lennon

The Childhood Home of John Lennon

9 Newcastle Road in Wavertree is where the Beatles star lived from his birth in 1940.
The red brick terraced house is where Lennon's mother Julia brought up her first-born son until he was five. It is just a stone's throw away from Penny Lane. Lennon moved to live with his Aunt Mimi at Mendips, on Menlove Avenue in Woolton in 1945.
Lennon made reference to the Newcastle Road house later in life, and was quoted as saying: "I lived in 9 Newcastle Road. I was born on the 9 of October. It's just a number that follows me around."
